Arlene Heim

Arlene Louise Heim, 92, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on October 3, 2026 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. She was born on July 21, 1934 in LaPorte, IN to Joseph Dean and Dorothy (Lesecki) Knowlton. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) Heim, daughter Denice Scott, and a great-great grandson Wyatt Keller. Arlene was one of seven siblings and is survived by one brother Lloyd Knowlton (Joyce) of Florida.

On August 16,1951 she was united in marriage to Gerald E. Heim and had four children. She is survived by two daughters: Chris Melton, Granger, Connie Wroblewski (Eric),South Bend, and a son Matthew Heim of Lakeville.

She was a loving, and caring grandmother to 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Grandma always welcomed her grandchildren’s visits with open arms and a smile and left them with a hug and kiss goodbye.

Arlene retired from the Torrington Corporation, and South Bend Lathe. After retirement she spent much of the early years caring for some of her grandchildren.

Special thanks to her wonderful neighbors the Willis families, Sauter family, Neill family, and the Nyers family for looking after mom, taking such great care of her, and especially for being her friends.

Per Mom’s wishes there will be no services or visitation. A private family graveside ceremony will be held at a later date.
