Charles (Charlie) Dew passed away on June 9, 2026 at the Ernestine M. Raclin Hospice House in Mishawaka, IN. He was born in Dowagiac, MI to Gerald and Helen (Henderson). On October 5, 1973 he married the former Kathy Wilson. Charlie graduated from Dowagiac High School where he excelled in academics and sports. He then went on to graduate from Western Michigan University and served two years in the U.S. Army.

Charlie was employed as an Industrial Engineer with various companies spending the last 20 years with Harter Corporation in Sturgis, MI and Middlebury, IN.

He was a devoted family man and always involved in his children’s lives including many years of coaching their sports teams. His interests were reading, sports and all physical activities. Charlie and Kathy traveled extensively to the contiguous 48 states, throughout Canada and numerous European countries. He especially loved anytime spent in the great outdoors with the mountains of Colorado holding a special a place in his heart.

He had been a member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac, MI, and Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy; his children, Lezlie (Kevin) Knoll of Whitehall, MI, Dr. John (Kathryn) Dew of Bellingham, WA, Angelina Finnegan of Carmel, IN, and Ryan (Jenna) Dew of Carbondale, CO. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Chuck (Elizabeth) Knoll, Kayla (Michael) Conklin, Carly (Sean) Briggs, Aleah, Josie, and Jackson Dew, Jack Ryan Finnegan, and Jasper and Sloane Dew; his great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kiera, and Mirren Knoll; his sister, Shirley Haffner; Kathy’s siblings, Debbie (Chuck) Chambliss and Gary (Vickie) Wilson; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by Kathy’s parents, Jasper and Elizabeth Wilson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on July 20, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Smith’s Chapel, 29858 Redfield Street, Niles, MI, with the Rev. Robert Kyfes officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Ernestine M. Raclin Hospice House.
