Charles Edward Lambert Sr. passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Charles was born in Chicago, IL on January 23, 1938, to the late Wayne Oliver and Lillian C. (Hoar) Lambert.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Dolora; children, Penny (John) Brennan, Doug (Deb) McMurtrie, Charles E. Lambert Jr., Aaron (Kelli) Lambert, Raechelle (Kirk) Saylor, Steph (Bruce) Gordon and Rhonda (Daniel) Collins; 28 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Allen.
Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Helen; sons, George McMurtrie and C. Chris Lambert; grandsons, Charles E. Lambert III and George McMurtrie Jr; and brothers, John and Bob Lambert.
Charlie was a proud US Army veteran who served during the Korean War era in the 11th Airborne Division “Hell’s Angels”.
Charlie had a great passion for life and learning. He was a voracious reader and history buff.
He had great love for his family, quick wit and a quirky sense of humor and he loved to make people laugh.
Charlie found great joy in finding God.
Charlie has a long history of living in Granger. He had a love for gardening, the great outdoors, skydiving, and music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. He loved playing guitar and began taking dancing lessons sometime around his 80th birthday.
Charlie was a remarkable man with many great accomplishments; he earned a degree in Tool Design from the Chicago Technical College in 1959 and since that time, he has held various occupations; machinist (Studebaker), Draftsman (Cole and Sons), Home Builder (Lambert Construction). He retired from the field of engineering at the age of 75 from Lawson Fisher and Associates.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 20, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N. Fir Rd., Granger. Visitation at the church will begin at 9:30am. The Mass will be live streamed at www.youtube.com/@stpiusgranger or www.stpius.net.
Charlie will be laid to rest following the Mass at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
