David E. Askew, 74, of Granger, IN, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, service, and creativity. Born on November 17, 1950, in Albany, NY, David was the son of the late Edwin and Betty Askew.

David was an active member of Granger Missionary Church and gave his time volunteering with Heart to Heart Hospice and Vader Hospice. He also served as a trustee at the South Bend Elks Lodge #235.

He enjoyed working with electronics and often built and sold small gadgets he designed himself. He had a practical mind and liked solving problems through his projects.

David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judith (McKee) Askew. He is survived by his loving daughter, Alisha Askew of Granger, IN; his sisters, Cynthia (Ivan) Leierer of Fresno, CA, and Elaine (Tom) Johnston of Sibley, IL; and his brothers, Wayne (Patricia) R. Askew of Stephens City, VA, and Paul H. Askew of Bicknell, IN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, from 4–7 p.m. at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel with a 6 p.m. Elks Memorial Service. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 15, at 9 a.m. at Granger Missionary Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
