David Joseph Ladouceur

On Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 73, David Joseph Ladouceur passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. David was born in Ogdensburg, New York on December 20, 1948 to Harold and Julie (Pelky) Ladouceur. David is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Barbara; their children, Steven (Sarah) Ladouceur and Katherine Ladouceur (Elisha Aubin); grandchildren, Lillian and Madison Ladouceur and Ariana Aubin and mother, Julie Ladouceur. David was preceded in death by his father, Harold Ladouceur; and brother, H. Douglas Ladouceur Always the life-long learner David graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University and later earned his Ph.D. from Brown University. After getting married in 1976 David and Barbara moved from the East coast to Indiana where David worked as a Professor for the University of Notre Dame for 39 years. During his tenure he served for 9 years as the Chairman for the Department of Classics and published multiple works on Greek, Latin and Biblical Literature. David had a love of all things historical which led to a life-long passion for collecting antiques and fine art. Inspired by his love for art, David became a self-taught painter and sculptor entering multiple works in regional art shows and winning many awards. David was the world’s best Dad and Grandfather; he leaves behind a family that will greatly miss him. We love you, "Mr. Fun"! A Memorial Service for David will take place on Thursday, May 19 at 4:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger (enter at Cherry Rd).
