Dennis Michael Grounds

November 26, 1946 — October 15, 2022

MISHAWAKA-Dennis “Denny” Michael Grounds, 75, passed away in his home on October 14, 2022, after a long illness.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 26, 1946 to the late James Ralph and Pauline (Dawson) Grounds.

Denny is survived by four children: Dennis Grounds Jr., Kelly Grounds, Joshua Grounds, Sr.  and Eric Grounds; along with eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and his longtime companion, Becky Wagner.

He graduated from Clay High School and went on to play multiple sports but excelled mostly in baseball. Denny was a musician who played in multiple bands. The most notable was the “Cambridge Five” who was a popular regional band that performed with notable bands such as the “Buckinghams” and “Tommy James and the Shondells” to name a few.  An avid sports fan, Notre Dame Football was, by far, his favorite.  He was a lifetime member of the Clay Social Club in Roseland where he was an officer of the club for many years.

A memorial service will be held November 12th from 11am-3pm at the Roseland Town Hall and a Celebration of Life will take place on his birthday, November 26th, at the Clay Social Club in Roseland from 5pm-11pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations to McGann Hay Funeral Home (2313 Edison Rd. South Bend, IN 46615) would be appreciated, to help with funeral expenses.
