Evans Vern Wolfe, 87, went peacefully to be with his Lord on August 19, 2025 in Granger, Indiana. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Evans was the son of Vern and Irene (Burger) Wolfe.
Evans was known for his commitment to the Lord and to his family. He worked for 46 years at AT&T as a maintenance technician in the warehouse until he retired in 2001. Evans served the church in many capacities such as Sunday School teacher, usher, and deacon. He enjoyed singing and playing gospel songs. He also often played the song, "The Syncopated Clock," on the piano. His favorite pastime, though, was working in his workshop where had everything in its own place. He was always drawing diagrams and thinking about how to invent a magnetic motor and made many other little inventions around the house and at work to make tasks easier. He kept his ideas in a notebook in his front pocket with a mechanical pencil and a pen. He was a true perfectionist in every way.
Evans is survived by his wife, Patricia (White) Wolfe; and his children, Evans “Skip” Wolfe II, Brent Wolfe and his wife Amy (Hunter) Wolfe, Tricia (Wolfe) DeVries and her husband Timothy DeVries, and Traci (Wolfe) Rohl and her husband Darrell Rohl. He is also survived by grandchildren: Emma and Lily Wolfe; Hunter, Harrison, and Hannah DeVries; and Austin, Reagan, Alanna, and Camden Rohl.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 29 from 4-7 p.m., at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. A Celebration of Evans’ life will be held the following day, Saturday Aug 30, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will follow at Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg, MI. Immediately after, there will be a reception at Journey Church of Granger.
