Hazel T. Nicholas

HAZEL T. NICHOLAS 1929 - 2026 Hazel T. Nicholas, age 97 of Englewood, Florida, passed away in her home on April 4, 2026. She is survived by two children, Teri Nicholas (Larry LeMaire), Jeffrey (Julie) Nicholas, son-in-law Dallis Lindley, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Born in Dorchester, Dorset, England, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents William and Gladys March, husband Arthur Nicholas, daughter (Pamela Lindley), son (Bradley Nicholas), and two grandchildren.

Hazel met her future husband while he was stationed in Weymouth, Dorset, England during WWII. After the war they were united in marriage at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lansing, Michigan in November 1946. They were married for 77 years until Art's death at age 101 in 2024.

Hazel was a member of the ECW (Episcopal Church Women) and served on the Altar Guild of St David's Episcopal Church in Lansing, Michigan, as well as the Cathedral of St. James in South Bend, Indiana, and was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Englewood, Florida.

Known as "Gran" to her grandchildren and "GG" (Great-Gran) to successive generations, she was a marvelous cook of American and international cuisine. Hazel's loving touch was exemplified in everything she undertook. She loved her family unconditionally. Her gentle spirit will forever be missed in our hearts and in our lives.
