James Goodkin

Nov 2, 1938 — Sep 5, 2026

Granger

Jim Goodkin, 87, passed away quietly with friends by his side. A friend to all who knew him, Jim was an avid and talented artist who, like any great artist on an adventure, painted in a variety of styles over the course of his lifetime. He taught art for many years and was a wise and patient teacher.

Jim graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, and was one of that school's first graduates in Architectural Engineering. He was a member of AEPi fraternity and served one year as president. He was known for his architectural drawings and his artist renderings for client presentation.

Jim Goodkin was gentle, quick-witted, engaging, and talented. He always enjoyed sharing stories with his friends. He regarded his wife Judith, who preceded him in death, as his inspiration and artistic muse. He would often sign his paintings "J/J Goodkin" to give her the honor and credit he thought she deserved.

Jim enjoyed the company of his friends, sharing their humor, and learning from them. He enjoyed discussing religious philosophy, art theory and history, and current events. He was always interested in the accomplishments of his friends' children. As he was a wise man of many talents and diverse interests, so it is that he will be remembered by those honored to have known him.

Memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to The Jewish Federation, 3202 Shalom Way, South Bend, IN 46615 or Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545
