John Allen Lichkai, 82, of Granger, IN, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025.
Born in South Bend, IN, John was the son of the late John A. Lichkai and Ann K. (Granat) Lichkai. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1961.
John proudly served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. John built a lifelong career as a skilled auto mechanic. He was the owner of Lichkai Auto Repair in Mishawaka, IN.
John was known for his wit and appealing sense of humor. He took great pride in planting many trees and flowers around his big yard. He had loads of fun with the rescue dogs he owned over the years.
In 1997, John married Rosanne M. Savol, who survives him. He is also survived by two sisters, Cheryie (Richard) Rumfelt of O’Fallon, MO and Mary Katherine (Vaughan) Lichkai-Cornwall of Edwardsburg, MI; his nephew, Steven (Mary) Miller of Granger, and great nieces, June and Olive Miller, also of Granger. He is also survived by his dog, Gracie Ellen.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the McGann Hay University Chapel, 2313 Edison Rd., South Bend with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
