Julia Loretta Mitchell

July 28, 1938 — May 20, 2022

GRANGER-Julia L. Mitchell, 83, passed away May 20, 2022, with family by her side. Born July 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Berta (Mayer) Werz. Her sister, Evie (Karl Glander); and her beloved cat, Sasha, preceded her in death. On February 7, 1959, Julia married the love of her life, Joseph Mitchell. He preceded her in death in 2015. To their union, they were blessed with two children: Denise (Patrick) Parker of Granger and Michael (Dawn) Mitchell of Elkhart. Also left to cherish her memory are two grandsons, Mitchell Parker of Carmel, IN and Brian (Megan Renner) Parker of Los Angeles, CA. Julia was a loving and devoted wife (also called “Schatzi” meaning sweetheart in German by close friends and family), mom and grandma. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and ceramics. She was very talented at crafting; and loved to go all out with decorations at Christmas, she made the most beautiful and unique ornaments. With over 70 bulbs, not one was the same. Julia and Joe worked together at their business, Elk-Bend. Julia also was the office manager at National Standard and retired in 2000. She was dearly loved and will be missed. Services will be held at St. Pius in Granger Thursday, June 2nd. Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m., with Mass at 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch. It will be live-streamed at St.Pius.net or Facebook.com/StPiusGranger Memorial donations may be made the National MS Society, or to the Center for Hospice Care, who provided her with great care while she was at Creekside Village.
