Granger

Loretta B. Frank, born June 26, 1944, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Loretta grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from North Central High School. On December 26, 1965, she married Robert L. Frank. They moved to South Bend, where Loretta worked as an assistant buyer for Robertson’s Department Store, offering an early outlet for her keen eye and impeccable sense of fashion, while Robert attended Notre Dame Graduate School.

In 1975, Loretta got her Real Estate License and started working at Cressy and Everett, becoming the longest-serving active agent in the company at the time of her passing. Two years after transitioning to Real Estate, she went to Purdue and got her Certified Residential Specialist Degree.

An ever-active pillar of her community, Loretta served as President of the Granger Sunrise Rotary Club and as a member of the Board of the South Bend Education Foundation. She will be remembered as a fashionista who enjoyed tap dancing, playing tennis, hiking, biking, cooking, and traveling the world with her family and friends.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Frank; her sisters, Karen (Aaron) Rosenberg of Waterford, Connecticut and Helaine (Avram) Herman of Carmel; her brother, Arthur Stein of Indianapolis; her children, Michelle (Robert) Freel and Seth Frank, both of South Bend; her three beloved grandchildren, Naomi Freel of Washington, D.C., and Charlie Freel and Izabelle Frank, both of South Bend; and several nieces, nephews, their spouses, and their children. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Frank; and her parents, Harry and Rosaleah Stein.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sinai Synagogue, with burial to follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sinai Synagogue, Temple Beth-El, the South Bend Education Foundation, Rotary International, or the American Cancer Society.

The family extends their thanks to Dr. Rafat Ansari and Dr. Bilal Ansari at Michiana Hematology Oncology, Dr. Ernst Lengyel at the University of Chicago, Dr. Samuel McGrath at Beacon Medical Group, and the Center for Hospice Care.
