Marjorie Lynn O’Leary

July 19, 1945 — August 21, 2022

Marjorie Lynn O’Leary passed away peacefully on Sunday August 21st 2022 at the age of 77. She was born in Chicago Illinois on July 19, 1945 to the late Walter E. And Frances M. (Hellickson) Johnson.Marjorie was a wonderful mother who heavily involved herself as a Scout Master for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and she loved being a nurse for over 30 years. She kept in touch with her nursing school classmates and sang in their class singing group.Marjorie had an incredible memory, especially for music and film trivia, which helped her stay undefeated in Trivial Pursuit well into her 50s. She was a huge Beatles fan (particularly Paul) and listened to their music whenever she could, singing along the whole time. She traveled to Spain and Hawaii in her youth and became a Spanish tutor for her peers. As a mother, she helped her children with science projects and took them to many amusement parks, concerts, and movies.Marjorie liked to remind those around her, “You can’t go through life without a sense of humor.” She enjoyed maintaining her vibrant flower garden, which served as a seasonal reminder of just how beautiful life can be.Marjorie is survived by her 4 children: David (Carly) O’Leary, Andrea (Jason Story) O’Leary, Gregory (Kristin) O’Leary, and Steven (Lauren) O’Leary; grandchildren: Jillian and Jaclyn Story and Keelyn and Connor O’Leary; siblings Bette (Alfonso) Calderone, Louise Johannesen, Edward (InSuk) Johnson and Vernon (Melissa) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.A celebration of life will take place on Friday September 30th 2022 at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger IN (enter at Cherry Rd) from 4-6pm.In the final days she spent in this realm, she was cared for by a nurse she had instructed so many years ago. This solidified the idea that what we do in life echoes in eternity.
