Mary Ellen S. Deiotte

Mary Ellen S. Deiotte, passed away on August 11, 2026, at Silver Birch Nursing Home in Michigan City, Indiana.

Mary Ellen was born on December 17, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward A. Torchany and Mary A. Kubas. On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life, Louis J. Deiotte, in Chicago. They shared 45 years of marriage before Louis preceded her in death on December 9, 2002.

Mary Ellen treasured time spent with her family and created countless memories with those she loved most. She especially enjoyed traveling and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life, and she worshipped at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Michigan City.

She is survived by her children, Michael J. Deiotte of Porter, Indiana, Celeste M. Wyatt of Beverly Shores, Indiana, Cecilia A. Bergman of West Palm Beach, Florida, Gerald L. Deiotte of Sacramento, California, Lisa A. O’Keeffe of Valparaiso, Indiana, Kevin J. Deiotte of Westville, Indiana, and Keith A. Deiotte of Newberry, Michigan. She is also survived by one brother ;14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Louis, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Per Mary Ellen’s wishes, no services will be held. At her request, she will rest in peace among the beauty of the Rocky Mountains forever.
