Pamela Teichner Kahn

December 5, 1941 — July 10, 2024

South Bend

Pamela Teichner Kahn, born December 5, 1941, was the daughter of the late Helmut and Betty Teichner.

She was the mother of Matthew, Jeremy and Melissa; mother-in-law of Janine, Seson and Alana; grandmother of Myla and Lily; sister of Renee Kaufman; and dear friend of Mary Mathews who became like a sister to her.

Pamela Teichner Kahn led a rich and impactful life, deeply rooted in her passions of travel and art and contributions to her community. Born in Chicago, IL on December 5, 1941, she excelled academically as a national honor student before pursuing her education at Northwestern University. Later, she earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance from IUSB.

Her love for skiing began early, influenced by her father, and she eventually became a certified ski instructor. Pam's career in skiing took her from Wilmot Ski Resort in Wisconsin to roles as Ski School Director at Bendix Woods and Swiss Valley. She shared her passion for skiing with her family, including her children and grandchildren, leaving a lasting legacy in the sport.

Pam settled in South Bend, IN in the late 1960’s, and continued to contribute actively to her community. She was involved in numerous organizations in the community, including the Junior League, Potawatomi Zoo, American Cancer Society, Children's Dispensary, Stanley Clark School, Michiana Arts and Sciences Council and Temple Beth-el. Her dedication to cultural enrichment was evident in her leadership of the South Bend Jewish Film Festival for many years.

Professionally, Pam made a significant impact as a Spanish teacher and guidance counselor in the South Bend Public Schools. She was beloved by her students, who fondly remembered her warm presence both in and out of school.

Beyond her professional achievements and community service, Pam cherished her family, friends, and her dog Schatzie, who was her companion for 13 years. She was an avid supporter of the Notre Dame Women's Basketball team, and she never missed a game.

Pamela Teichner Kahn passed away on July 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, dedication, and a profound impact on those whose lives she touched.
