Rev. William Atwood “Bill” Troth stepped from this world into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, October 24 of 2023 in Granger, Indiana. He was born July 4th, 1936 to Florence “Billie” and Ed (Edward L. senior) Troth. He was raised in their home along with his older brother Ed (Edward L. junior) Troth. In 1958 he graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in building construction, then served the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. He was ordained to the ministry at Lakeside Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1981 with a ThM.
In 1959, after discharge from the Army, he met Helene Arzana Martin. 28 days later he proposed and they were married August 15, 1959 in New Orleans. They welcomed their son, Rick Troth, April 1962 and their daughter, Diane Troth (now Bennett), May 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri. The family briefly lived in California then settled in New Orleans.
Bill founded The Troth Corporation providing job placement, initially for accountants and programmers. After coming to faith in Jesus Christ, he was led to enroll at Dallas Theological Seminary and later served at Believer’s Bible Church (Lufkin, Texas) and Parkway BIble Church (Scarborough/Toronto, Ontario). He also published books including The Milk and Honey Man. They settled in Granger and, after God took Helene home, he married Carolyn Silvia.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helene Martin Troth, by his daughter in-law, Marilyn Kay Troth and by his parents, Ed and Billie Troth, as well as his brother, Ed Troth. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; son, Rick (Susan) Troth; daughter, Diane (Scott) Bennett; his loving grandchildren - Michelle Troth, Martin Troth, Leslie (Hunter) Bennett Smith, Sissie Bennett, and Billie Bennett; and Carolyn’s sons, Todd (Jill) Hesson, Tim (Ann) Hesson, and Chris (Stephanie) Hesson; as well as as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Rev. Troth’s life will be held at McGann Hay Granger Chapel on Saturday, November 4th with Jonathan Anderstrom officiating. The family will be receiving guests at 2:30 with the service starting at 3:30. Burial will follow at the Bertrand Bible Church Cemetery.
