Richard Anthony Farkas passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, IN on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1959 in South Bend, IN to the late Robert and Shirley Farkas. She survives.
Richard graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1978, where he completed 11 years of perfect attendance. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Southwest Michigan College in 2010. Rich was currently employed at PEI. He also worked for Postle Aluminum in Cassopolis, MI and Easco Aluminum in Elkhart, IN.
Left to cherish Richard’s memory are the love of his life of 27 years, Myra; children: Richard, Amber, Janie (David) Broc, and Andy; brothers, Tim (Vickie) and Ed (Sharon) Farkas. Rich took immense pride in his granddaughter, Alisa; and great-grandson, Jaymes, who was his constant little buddy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sapphire.
Rich was preceded in death by his son, Michael; niece, Holly Dee; and nephew Eric.
Rich will be remembered for his love, Loyalty and dedication to his family and friends. He had a love of everything Notre Dame, especially women’s basketball. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and never missed watching the Little League World Series every year. He enjoyed playing golf and attended many country music concerts with Myra.
Rich was a dedicated hubs, father, son, brother and papa, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Hope Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd., Edwardsburg, MI, at 1p.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12-1 p.m. Please come join in remembering Rich and sharing your memories during a light lunch following the service.
Rich will be laid to rest at Adamsville Cemetery at a later date.
