Richard J. “Dick” Kindt, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka.
Born on January 29, 1935, in South Bend, Indiana, Richard was the son of Carle Kindt and Virginia (Klosowski) Kindt. He attended Western Michigan and Indiana University, before beginning a successful career in sales and manufacturing with Glenmark Industries in Plymouth. Through years of hard work, dedication, and leadership, he ultimately retired as Vice President from Glenmark Industries.
Richard shared a lifelong partnership with Robert Année until Robert’s passing on November 29, 2007. Together they built a life filled with love, companionship, and countless cherished memories.
A proud veteran, Richard honorably served his country in the United States Army.
Dick was known for his impeccable sense of style and was always a sharp dresser. He took great pride in maintaining a beautiful lawn and found joy in driving his beloved Mercedes. For nearly 80 years, Diamond Lake held a special place in his heart, where he made many treasured memories with family and friends.
An excellent cook, Dick was especially known for his unforgettable Beef Burgundy, a dish family and friends eagerly anticipated. He also enjoyed dining at Red Lobster, one of his favorite restaurants. Blessed with a remarkable musical gift, Dick sang with the South Bend Symphony at just 12 years old. Throughout his life, he retained a beautiful singing voice and was rarely without a cheerful whistle, bringing warmth and happiness to those around him.
Richard is survived by his sister, Kathlyn (William) Stoler of Cassopolis, Michigan; his brother, Donald (Barbara Jean) Kindt of Plymouth, Indiana; his nephews, Christopher (Sue) Stoler of Cassopolis, Michigan, and Adam (Sarah) Stoler of Granger, Indiana; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Calen and Chloe of Cassopolis, Michigan; Jordan (Emily) and Sam of Mishawaka, Indiana; Ryder, Layla Rockne, Kaylee Jeske all of Granger Indiana. Kelly (Kevin) Deeth of Alma California, and Karlee (Kerry) Renz of Singapore; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Carle and Virginia Kindt, his beloved partner, Robert Année and his nephew Patrick Stoler.
