Robert Nelson Stone, a gentle soul with a mischievous spark who appreciated nature and working with his hands, died December 31. 2023. He was 66.
Born in Springfield, Mass. to Norman and Mary Stone, Robert was one of four children; Marilyn, Gary and David. Marilyn and David preceded him.
He attended local schools and followed in his father’s footsteps, picking up brushes and taking up the painting trade. He spent some of his adult years in Oklahoma City and later relocated to South Bend, IN, to be closer to his older brother, Gary.
At the time of his death, he lived in Galien, MI, where he’d restored a railroad shed and converted it to a home that was his pride and joy. He loved spending time sitting by his pond and watching the animals on his property.
In addition to his brother, Gary, of Osceola, Ind., he leaves his son, Philip Stone, of Springfield, Mass.
An intimate celebration of Robert’s life will take place in the spring. His family, and friends and will be notified.
Donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
