Rudolph “Rudy” Reiners

Rudolph (Rudy) Reiners passed away on October 8th, 2022 in the Raclin House at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka. He was 90 years old.

Rudy was born November 16th, 1931 in Chicago to the late Rudolph and Marguerite Reiners. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Reiners; his sister, Margot Weiss; and his previous wife, Jean Reiners.

Rudy married Jean Byers in 1956 and is survived by their three children, Lauren (Jeff) McFadden and Kurt (Sandra) Reiners, both of Elkhart, and Bradley (Tracy) Reiners of Iowa. Rudy married Joyce Stadler in 1985 and is survived by a step-daughter LaFon (William) Davis, also from Elkhart. Joyce preceded him in death in August.

Rudy was blessed with 10 grandchildren; Eric, Michael, Andrew, Cassie, Alexander, Jessica, Faith, Zachery, Tyler, and Benjamin. He is also survived by nine grea- grandchildren; Colette, Everly, Emmaline, Parker, Lilith, Blake, Colton, Chloe, and Eleanor.

Rudy served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Boxer. Rudy graduated from Illinois University with a Bachelors in Business. His career was primarily in banking as a Commercial Loan Executive in Elkhart and St Joseph Counties. He also worked in Washington D.C. as the Financial Chairman of the National Republican Party during the Ford Presidency. Rudy received the distinguished honor of being named "Sagamore of the Wabash" by Governor Otis Bowen. He later was named as a Kentucky Colonel. In public service roles Rudy served as Chairman of United Way in Elkhart County, Indiana, Toll Road Commissioner, served in Rotary, and played violin in the Elkhart Symphony. He retired in Florida where he continued playing violin, piano and later mastered the organ. Rudy was a huge Notre Dame fan and enjoyed playing the fight song on the organ before every football game. In 2013, Rudy and Joyce moved back to Granger to be near family. They resided at The Village Arborwood in Granger.

The family would like to thank the staff in Raclin House, at The Center for Hospice Care, for their wonderful care and support for Rudy and the family during his time there.
