Sean Donohue passed away peacefully with his wife Brenda by his side on the morning of October 11, 2023 in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was 57. He endured a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 17, 1965 in New York, NY, he was the son of William T. Donohue (engineer and inventor) and Roseanne McGovern Talcott (executive assistant and folk guitarist). All four grandparents were of Irish decent. Sean’s father “Bill” passed away in 1991. His mother, Roseanne, lives with her husband Chuck Talcott in Bradenton FL. Sheila Donohue (sister) resides in Chicago, IL.
On March 29, 1993, Sean married the love of his life and best friend Brenda Cosby. Brenda called Sean her “sanctuary after a long hard day.” They loved simple vacations–like a clear blue lake in Michigan and spending quiet time together. Sean was grateful for Brenda’s dedication during his illness.
Sean discovered his talents for all things mechanical in his teens by racing and building dirt bikes. His passion quickly turned to perpetually enhancing his 1987 Mustang. Sean taught himself how to play guitar proficiently out of magazines and close listening. Music was a major creative outlet for him. Although he was meticulous and sometimes overly careful with design-build projects, in sports he was always ready for speed. From downhill skiing, catamaran sailing, motorcycle jumping, water skiing and open-road cycling, Sean loved the edge.
Early in his career, he combined his musical and mechanical interests by landing a job in the Computer Aided Design department of Electro-voice (where he met Brenda). He also worked at CTS and finally Bosch, where he worked for many years.
Sean was beloved by his nieces, Jordan (29) and Julia (19) and nephew, Séamus (23). Sean and Brenda always treated them like their own children. Sean loved spending time in nature and when he walked it was not to count steps. He walked for the love of it.
The funeral service will be celebrated for Sean on Monday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 11:30, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
