Shirley A. Ledonne

November 7, 1938 — January 15, 2021

Shirley A. LeDonne, 82, passed away January 15, 2021 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend surrounded by her daughters. Shirley was born November 7, 1938 in South Bend, IN to the late Kenneth L. and Geneva B. ( Fuller) Rininger. Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene N. LeDonne; two brothers, Kenneth Jr and Eugene Rininger; her sister, Majorie Horvath; and her stepson, Alan LeDonne. Survivors include daughters, Victoria (Rick) Kring of South Bend, Roberta (Michael Doherty) Adams of Salem, MA and Susan Thornberg of Elkhart, IN; step-daughters, Luanne Beekley of Ft. Wayne, IN and Lisa ( Gerry) Heare of Mason, OH; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Kring and Marilyn Lubinski.
Shirley was considered the “Staple of the Dew Drop Inn” for the many years she worked there. She had attended Washington High School. Shirley was very passionate about her garden and very generously shared the rewards of her hard work with friends and strangers. She loved to play cards and to win at the casino. The Indianapolis Colts were her favorite team! She was a great cook and created beautifully crafted silk flower arrangements. Her family called her feisty and her sisters blamed her for always getting them into good trouble when they were younger. Shirley was loved deeply by her family and friends and will missed greatly.
A private family service will be held later this summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation. To send private condolences or to share memories, please visit www.McGannHay.com
