Stanley Louis Konopka, affectionately known as “Stan the Man” and “Mr. K” passed away peacefully at 82 on May 6, 2025.

Stan was the beloved husband to Carole; loving father to, Theresa Konopka, Jeffrey (Violetta) Konopka, Gina (Kevin) Tyburski, Michael Konopka and Jennifer (John) Killin; fond grandfather to, Holly (Cameron) Lagestee; brother to, Richard Konopka; adored uncle to many; and cat dad to Benjamin.

A Chicago native, Stan graduated from Marmion Military Academy, served in the U. S. Airforce at O’Hare Field and dedicated a successful 35 years to Motorola.

He found joy in his family. He had a passion for sports, especially admiring his favorite Quarterback #19, Johnny Unitas. He was a devoted White Sox fan and admired the charisma of actor James Dean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 N. Fir Rd., Granger, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning one-hour prior.

A private entombment will take place at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joseph Co. Humane Society.
