Susan "Suzi" Tankersley

April 26, 1945 — March 25, 2026

Susan Jean Veris Tankersley, 80, of Cassopolis, MI, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on March 25, 2026. 

Suzi was born January 26, 1945 in Bremerton, Washington to the late George and Hazel Jean (Topping) Veris. On August 20, 1972, she married the love of her life, Stephen Tankersley, DDS. who survives her. 

She and Steve were blessed with two children; Corey Tankersley and Andy (Lindsey) Tankersley of Edwardsburg, MI. Also, left to cherish her memory are her four grandchildren; Tyler DeGroote, Lucy, Anna and Davie all of Edwardsburg, MI. and her sister, Jude (Jerry) Veris-Decker of Colorado.

She was a 1963 graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. She graduated from Purdue University in 1967 with a BA Degree in French and was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. In France, she spent a year attending the University of Caen. She then taught French in middle school in Alexandria, Virginia.

Suzi loved to walk the beach picking up shells on Lido, Key in Sarasota, Florida. An artist at heart and did Batik, a technique of wax resist on silk cloth type of artwork. As a younger woman, she was a Riflery Counselor at YMCA Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, Michigan. She played tennis in a league in Niles, MI.

No services are planned at this time, and cremation will take place. Suzi's ashes will be spread in places dear to her heart.
