Hanna Issa Eid

Hanna Eid, also known as “Abu Issa” residing in South Bend, Indiana. He was born in Mujeidel, Palestine, to Issa, and Saada Eid.
He became a refugee in his own homeland after 1948. After joining the seminary to become a Lazarist priest, he started working at the Soeur de Charite (Sisters of Charity) in Bethany where he met Georgette Attallah (Um Issa), whom he fell in love with and married. She was at the time working as a seamstress for the same convent. She preceded him in death in 2016. They lived in the Christian quarter of the old city of Jerusalem where they were blessed with four children: Marlene, Issa, Mona, and Mansour. In 1988, he moved to the United States with his wife in order to be closer to his children. They were granted more blessings with eight grandchildren who adore them.
On Thursday October 26th, 2023, at 6:00pm, Hanna passed away in peace surrounded by his loving children, and grandchildren of whom he was very proud. He will now be reunited with his beloved Georgette, and their spirits will meet again. 
Hanna spent his career in East Jerusalem working for the “Ecole Biblique and Archeologique Francaise”, he also retired from Notre Dame after 10 years of service.
He was very talented and well versed in four languages, Arabic, French, English, and Hebrew.
All the children will miss Baba (dad), and the grandchildren: Nisreen, Matthieu, Natasha, Czesia, Hanna, Pierre, Ramzi, and Rania will miss Sido (grandpa), but he will be in their memories forever. Hanna was a great grandfather, to Evan Eid for about 12 weeks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Parish Center Chapel, 104 Sacred Heart Parish Center, Notre Dame, IN 46556, on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
