Steven Lee Sager, 76, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on August 3, 2023, due to complications from a recent stroke.
Steve was born on November 1, 1946, to Helen (Kring) and Ralph Sager. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ignasiak of Dublin, OH, and Laurie Pearce of Louisville, KY, and two sons, Greg (Nadia) Sager of San Diego, CA, and Eric (Anna) Sager of Boulder, CO. Steve is also survived by eight grandchildren; Ty and Lauren Ignasiak, Abby and Chloe Pearce, Ethan and Owen Sager, and Campbell and Max Sager.
Steve graduated from Penn High School and was a letterman on the varsity swim team. He was the proud owner of Sager Construction, spending over 35 years in custom residential and commercial remodeling. He also constructed a few custom homes, including the home in Parkwood Estates in Granger, where he and Diane raised their four children.
He loved to build, and his clients valued his perfectionist nature. For Steve, if a project wasn’t done correctly, it wasn’t done. He was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, and could often be seen cruising around town on his Harley or driving his white ‘76 Corvette. His children fondly remember fishing trips and yearly summer trips to Florida. Steve was dearly loved by family and friends and always thought of others before himself.
Funeral services for Steve will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 11:00 am in the chapel at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, P.O. Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141.
